GLIMECARE 2mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called sulfonylureas and is used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It helps control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes thereby preventing serious complications of diabetes such as kidney damage and blindness.

GLIMECARE 2mg Tablet may be used alone or along with other medicines. It should be taken just before or with the first meal of the day. Take it regularly at the same time each day to get the maximum benefit. Your doctor will decide what dose is best for you and this may change from time to time according to your blood sugar levels.

Uses

GLIMECARE 2 is prescribed for the following conditions:

  • In Type 2 diabetes mellitus: GLIMEPIRIDE 2mg Tablet helps manage Type 2 diabetes by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas, which lowers blood sugar levels. It helps reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications such as nerve damage, kidney problems, and heart disease, supporting better long-term health
  • How GLIMECARE Tablet works: Glimepiride 2 Tablet is an antidiabetic medication. It works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower blood glucose.

Important Considerations

Please keep the following points in mind while using GLIMECARE 2:

  • Hypoglycemia Risk: Glimepiride can cause low blood sugar, which may present as dizziness, confusion, sweating, or shakiness. It should be used with caution in elderly, debilitated, or malnourished patients due to higher risks.
  • Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor about all medications, particularly NSAIDs, aspirin, sulfonamides, or steroids, which can affect glimepiride’s action.
